test/quiz corrections

if your test grade is < passing ( = 60)
if your test grade is > passing ( = 60 ),
but 1 or more pages are < passing (= 60)
1) re-do all parts that are incorrect
(this "re-do" is in accordance with the Honesty Policy below)
1) re-do parts that are incorrect on that page (or those pages)
(this "re-do" is in accordance with the Honesty Policy below)
2) schedule an appointment (lasts about 10 - 15 minutes,
if you are prepared) with me
to review the re-done tests,
to show me the practice problems you did
on the topics involved
(please bring those to the appointment),
& to figure out some strategies to help you be
more successful in the class

schedule an appointment as far ahead in time as possible
(the appointment itself can be near the end of the week allotted for corrections, but make the appointment within a day of when the test is handed back)

do NOT expect to be able to make an appointment for the last day of test corrections week on the very last day!
2) turn in original test and re-done parts to the black box
STAPLED
3) bring the original test, the re-done parts the
to the appointment, along with practic problems
;
do NOT leave them in the black boxes after we meet
 3) you are welcome to come in and show me your
practice problems without an appointment

following applies to both categories above
deadline for both of the above is 1 week** from the test hand-back date
if you fall into the category at the upper left, the actions specified there are "required"
(i.e., there will be an additional penalty if this is not done)

in each case you will receive some portion (up to 25% max) of your points lost added back on to your test score
(assuming that you have done sufficient practice problems during the weeks we were studying the material on the test;
I am not interested in the problems you did the night before!)

all re-worked parts must be on separate paper, not on the original test;
if you have to re-do a lot, i sometimes have extra tests that I leave near the black boxes
The following Honesty Policy for redone TESTS applies:

You may not look at any other test papers, EXCEPT the posted solutions
(and the posted solutions will only be available UNTIL the tests are handed back;
the point is not to use them in re-doing your test)

You may NOT talk to other people (except me)
about how to work a problem.
You may use your book and notes.
You may ask me for help if you are stuck on a problem or part.
It is NOT expected that you will rely heavily, if at all, on the posted solutions.
If you do look at the solutions, you are expected NOT to take any written notes while doing so
(otherwise you are just copying my solutions and not learning much).

test corrections are NOT part of the course expectations and will not necessarily apply to all tests/exams

4) move your finger ahead to the next school day after that (this is the "SECOND day" after the handback)
5) move your finger ahead to the next school day after that (this is the "THIRD day" after the handback)
6)move your finger ahead to the next school day after that (this is the "FOURTH day" after the handback)
7) move your finger ahead to the next school day after that (this is the "FIFTH day" after the handback)
