In general, problem sets will be first posted here on Thursdays, and due the following Thursday at the beginning of class. Solutions will be posted as soon as they are available. No late problem sets will be accepted, short of a Dean's excuse. However one (and only one) problem set grade will be dropped from your total, or any reason, good or bad (including short term illness). Do not waste this for frivolous reasons, as you might need it if you are sick.
You will be held to the Duke Community Standard for your homework solutions. It's fine-- in fact encouraged -- to collaborate with others when working on solutions, but please write down the names of your collaborators on your homework set. It is not okay to copy solutions from others; your written solutions must be in your own words. It is also not okay to look up solutions from previous years or from the web.
Please hand in physical problem sets, in class, not electronic ones. If for some good reason you must hand in a homework electronically, please get advance permission.
Pay attention to details like units and significant figures where appropriate, and please write clearly. You must always show your work and include any code you used to compute a solution. If it's a struggle to read what you have written, the grader is justified in taking off points.
Solutions will be posted on Sakai under "Resources" the week after the homework is due.
