Thursday, Mar 18
read 2.5 about x-rays up to the Compton effect
make sure that you know the 2 pieces of evidence
for x-rays behaving like particles
(you may have to read another section in the book
to understand everything completely)
Friday, Mar 19
for class, read Cutnell and Johnson section 27-8 and all of the
lab handout
do Modern
Physics Lab 5: Measuring the Wavelength of Light
Monday, Mar 22 finish reading section 2.5 on the Compton effect
bring to class: a print-out of your best function
fit
to the current-vs-voltage plots from the photoelectric
effect data...
you should bring at least one for each color (and you should
have tried more functions than the one (best) that you
bring; you must use the same function for all light colors
Thursday, Mar 18 have you been to your dentist???
start working on your modeling of the current-vs-voltage data
from the photoelectric experiment.... find an appropriate
modeling function and bring printed copies to class monday
of your function fit to several i-vs-v plots
