This dissertation was completed in August 2013 at Duke University. The work presented here was developed in parallel with a paper in preparation within the ATLAS experiment, Thus many of the plots and results are marked "ATLAS Internal" and may have changed in content or presentation before they are formally approved by the collaboration.
