Here's some data I colleted for our new cluster:

HP procurve 2824, 24 ports, 48 GB/sec, managed $1676
HP procurve 2848, 48 ports, 96 GB/sec, managed $3375
dell powerconnect 2624, 24 ports, 48GB/sec, unmanaged $480
dell powerconnect 5224, 24 ports, 48GB/sec, managed $1400
SMC 8624T, same as dell 5224.

There wasn't a lot else in the 24-48 point range that was interesting.

There are some GB chassis switches, 3com superstack 3, foundry fastiron 400,
and some other hp procurve switches. These are much more expensive and IMHO
only worth looking at if you want more ports.
