Why do we use $\omega/\omega_c$ instead of $\omega RC$?

Either is OK- it can be useful sometimes to express transfer functions in terms of the corner frequency, since it then makes it easy to see what the response is for $\omega >> \omega_c$ or $\omega << \omega_c$.
