For the hip question, can you explain why hip injuries are painful because of multiple forces on the hip?

The idea behind this problem was to determine the forces within the hip joint. We looked at the force of the socket on the hip bone, and the force of the muscle pulling on the hip bone's protrusion. The surprising answer was that these forces can be quite large when a person is standing on one leg- 2.4 times and 1.6 times the person's weight, respectively. This shows why hip injuries can be quite painful. This kind of analysis can be useful to orthopedists, physical therapists, etc. to help understand how to mitigate pain.
