Physics 53 Review Guide

Abstract

This is a review guide for physics 53 (or Introductory Physics with Calculus, first semester) students, primarily providing shared access to all the problems I've ever put into quizzes, hour exams, and final exams. In the fullness of time this list MAY be comprehensive and organized, but at the moment it is pretty much a union of the works, neither sorted nor unique.

Still, it should be fairly useful to students seeking good problems to study. A student who can work ALL of these problems, perfectly, in time for their exams would be very unlikely to get worse that a B of some sort in almost any intro physics class. Well, unless the student in question hadn't done their homework -- in addition to working out these problems. So be sure that you do all of your homework and not just the review guide problems; they should not be viewed as a replacement for your regular homework but rather as self-guided augmented study.

One last note. I am often asked if I have answers to these problems. The answer is no. I don't "have" them written down somewhere, I can answer all of these problems in at most a minute or two of work. The point isn't the answer, it is the process whereby the answer is obtained. Work the problems with a group of friends, with a mentor who understands physics, with a tutor. It is the doing that matters.
