final project suggestions

presentations of final projects will be during the exam time reserved for this course

          length of presentation:   6 - 7 minutes
presentation should be aimed at the average student in class
          presentation will be graded on
                (1) how well and how thoroughly you explained what you did
                (2) use of visuals, including board
(I would suggest transparencies, but we have access to the computer projection
system in the dry lab; I presume things can still be but on the T drive)
(please be aware that I am anti-impressed by glitziness, especially in lieu of
                         intellectual content)
                (3) how interesting it is

length of paper presenting method and results: 3 - 4 pages
paper should be aimed at the teacher
paper will be graded on (in no particular order)
                (1) how meaty your project is
                (2) how thorough your analysis is
                (3) the correctness of your analysis

          papers will not be returned

some part of your grade for the exam will be based on the quality of the questions you ask
and the interest you otherwise display in others' talks

ideas for projects can be found below; however, just following the steps suggested within a project will only get you a C+/B-; you must do something EXTRA on your own to attain an A
