Abstract:   The unexpected experimental observation of the Metal-Insulator Transition (MIT) in Silicon MOSFETs 10 years ago is still an outstanding problem: The existence of MIT contradicts the commonly accepted scaling picture, where all the states are found localized in two dimensions.
We show that the interplay of the electron-electron interactions and disorder can explain the observed transport properties and the anomalous enhancement of the spin susceptibility near the MIT.
