Ultracold Fermi Alkali Gases: Bose Condensation Meets Cooper Pairing

Anthony Leggett

University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign

Wednesday April 7,  11:00am,  Room 298,  Physics Building

After a brief review of the history of the so-called "BEC-BCS crossover problem", I describe the general features of the system of ultracold dilute alkali gases which has permitted its realization recently. I comment on some of the experiments done on these systems and review some open questions.

Host: Harold Baranger and Horst Meyer
