Research:

My research centers around the the physics of the Quark-Gluon-Plasma (QGP) and ultra-relativistic heavy-ion collisions used to create such a QGP under controlled laboratory conditions. The Quark-Gluon-Plasma is a primordial state of matter which existed a couple of microseconds after the creation of the Universe in the Big Bang. Investigating the properties of the QGP will provide novel insights into the history of the early Universe and QCD, the quantum field theory of the strong interaction force, one of the four basic forces of nature. My research is being funded through an Outstanding Junior Investigator Award by the US Department of Energy.
